ryabinki house exterior

The house is located in the Ryabinki cottage town, 30 kilometers from Kyiv, in a remote area among the Linden groves. The main tasks in the design were to create a comfortable space for the owners and receiving guests' lives, preserve the existing trees as much as possible, and focus on the landscape around them, inscribing the house into it. The building site is divided into two parts - with and without trees, which dictated the house's location - on its flat part. The cottage is one-storeyed and connected to the surroundings by a system of paths and landscape compositions around it. To obtain a specific natural landscape and light environment, each function of the living space is oriented toward its desired orientation. To connect the interior and exterior space to make them flow into each other, we used the maximum glazing area on the southeastern façade, which is oriented towards most of the garden. So, the living room, the kitchen, and the guest room receive the most sunlight since they are the main pastime areas. Large 3x4m windows act as an ever-changing seasonal backdrop, letting in abundant color and natural light.

The large area of glazing is also used in the master bedroom block. It faces the west and has a separate block with a bathroom and dressing room. Thus, it's hidden from the guest's eyes of the house. In addition to the main lighting through the windows, the skylight shafts are designed in the house, which forms round openings facing the sky and attracts natural daylight to the very heart of the house. Outside, each of the blocks of the house - active, quiet, or technical - is emphasized by a change in the height or material of the facades - larch and seam. The primary color of the house's facade is dark graphite, which, in this context, creates an allusion to a modern fortress where you can hide from the noisy outside world. The red Hörmann entrance door and the automatic pergolas on the main entrance and the terrace are bright exterior accents. The garden has several main functional areas. The fireplace is located closest to the house and is connected by a single path with its garden in 7 concrete garden beds. As an alternative to the pool, the pond is designed far from home among the lindens. The rest of the site is landscaping, including more than 100 plant species carefully selected by the clients and dendrologists.
